AUGUSTA — Maine’s heating oil prices have risen to an average of $2.61 a gallon.

The Maine energy office says its weekly price survey found a 3-cent-per-gallon rise in the average price since last week.

Energy Director John Kerry says an anticipated economic rebound and growing demand worldwide will likely push crude and heating oil prices upward.

In Maine, the average price ranged from a low of $2.40 per gallon in western Maine to a high of $2.87 per gallon in the northern part of the state.
