PORTLAND — Tim Wright, a popular radio host who has been part of many Mainers’ morning routines for the past 15 years, is off the air.
Wright is no longer part of the morning show on Portland station WMGX (93.1 FM), known widely as Coast 93.1. The station’s president, Cary Pahigian, confirmed Tuesday that Wright is no longer with the show but would not provide details.

Wright, 48, did not want to discuss details of his departure. But he did say his time at the station had been “a fun 15 years” and he enjoyed working with his longtime co-host, Eva Matteson.
“I cannot say enough good things about Eva. She’s been my best partner and I wish her the best of everything,” said Wright.
Wright, known for his quick wit, said there are some good aspects to leaving his job.
“I’m looking forward to getting some sleep, to not hearing the music of John Mayer as much, and not having to constantly discuss the legal problems of Lindsay Lohan,” he said.
Wright said he and his family plan to stay in Maine.
Pahigian said the WMGX morning show will continue, and that Matteson will stay on. He said the station will announce a replacement for Wright at a later date.
The Coast morning show, which airs from 5 to 10 a.m., has featured Wright and Matteson discussing current affairs, headlines and lifestyle topics, and appearing to have a lot of fun doing it. The station also plays a wide variety of music from the last two decades or so.
Wright, a Lewiston native, became a morning host on WMGX in 1995. He replaced Willy Ritch and was teamed with Lori Voornas.
Wright continued as morning host through various changes at the station, including a variety of hosting partners and the station’s name change in 2006, when the Coast 93.1 moniker was adopted.
Before working at WMGX, Wright worked at WBLM (102.9 FM) and at stations in Lewiston.
