PORTLAND — Students attending Portland, Westbrook and Falmouth schools are being offered fare discounts for the coming school year.

The Greater Portland Transit District METRO says it’s offering the fare cuts from September to mid-June. During that time, students can ride METRO buses for 75 cents instead of the regular student fare of $1.25 if they use METRO Student Fare Cards.

It’s the fourth year that METRO has provided discounted bus rides for students, K-12.

METRO is also providing free rides to college students through Sept. 30.
