MANCHESTER, N.H. — Ray Chang and Luis Exposito stroked two-run singles in the sixth inning and Blake Maxwell stayed unbeaten as the Portland Sea Dogs topped the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5-2 Saturday night before a crowd of 8,746 at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

Maxwell (6-0) gave up two runs over 5 2/3 innings, striking out six.

The result did not matter to the Fisher Cats (75-57). They knew by the second inning that they had clinched a berth in the Eastern League playoffs.

New Hampshire needed a win or a Reading loss to get into the postseason. And the Phillies lost the first game of a doubleheader with Binghamton, 4-3.
