PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – The Boston-Portsmouth Air Show in New Hampshire caused a traffic tie-up some motorists said turned Interstate 95 into a 20-mile parking lot.

Others compared their drives on Saturday to Red Sox traffic and Boston commuter traffic.

Foster’s Daily Democrat says traffic at the entrance to the airport began to back up as early as 8 a.m. noon, state police said, traffic on Interstate 95 northbound was backed up nearly to the Massachusetts border.

On the Spaulding Turnpike, cars were bumper-to-bumper all the way to the Dover tolls.

Motorists traveling from other parts of New Hampshire encountered similar lines on other major roadways.
