STANDISH – Nicole Demidio scored on a breakaway in overtime Thursday to give Bonny Eagle a 1-0 victory against Gorham in a Southern Maine Activities Association field hockey opener.

It was the Scots’ first victory against the Rams since 2006.

Payton Dostie earned a assist after getting goalie Patty Smith to commit and feeding Demidio.

Rebecca Coney made nine saves for the win. Smith stopped five shots for Gorham.

CHEVERUS 5, DEERING 0: Sarah LaQuerre scored three goals to lead the visiting Stags over the Rams at Portland.

Emily Sawchuck and Taylor Witham also scored.

Caley Presby made 20 saves for Deering.

KENNEBUNK 1, BIDDEFORD 0: Kate Murphy scored from the top of the circle in the second half as the Rams won at Biddeford.

Kelsey Livermore needed one save for the shutout. Kennebunk put 12 shots on goal.

WESTBROOK 4, MASSABESIC 0: Ally Lemay had two goals and an assist as the Blue Blazes won at Waterboro.

Olivia Marsden and Melissa Pettis also scored.

Westbrook outshot Massabesic 15-4.

MT. ARARAT 3, MORSE 0: Charlotte Crosby scored twice in the final 1:10 of the first half to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead at Topsham.

Leah Hitchcock opened the scoring in the eighth minute.

Raven Demasi made three saves for Mt. Ararat. Alice Stenzuist stopped 13 shots for Morse.

NOBLE 3, SOUTH PORTLAND 1: Becca Osbourne and Devan Brett-Kelly scored first-half goals as the Knights took a 2-0 lead and held on at North Berwick.

Kayla Lambert made it 3-0 with 17:43 left. Noelle Lacroix provided two assists for Noble, and Molly Allinson and Jess Morris helped hold South Portland to three shots on goal.

Becca Roberts scored for the Red Riots with five minutes left.
