Former men’s soccer star Patrick Shaw and the 1972 men’s basketball team will be inducted into the Southern Maine Community College’s Athletics Hall of Fame in a ceremony at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10 in the Culinary Arts Banquet Room.

Shaw, a 2005 graduate, ranks first in school history with 57 goals and 29 assists. He was a two-time United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-American.

The 1972 basketball team finished 30-3 and won a conference championship. Members of the team, coached by John Dakin, included Brian Cousins, Walter Dearborn, Richard Fecteau, Ron Landry, Dave Leavitt, Reggie Mains, Tom McGonagle, Bill Merchimer, Jim Stacy, Gary White and John Reed.

 

Joe Boulos made a hole-in-one at Portland Country Club on Friday. Boulos used a 3-hybrid to make the 177-yard shot on the 14th hole. The shot was witnessed by Mike Caron, Joe Doucette and Hugh Farrington.

 

Jim Taylor, a member at Gorham Country Club, made a hole-in-one at Wachesaw East in Murrells Inlet, S.C., on Friday. Taylor used a 4-hybrid to make the shot, which was witnessed by Wayne Wheeler, Jackson Smith and Bob Coyne.
