BREEDERS STAKES: Scarborough Downs will host the Maine Standardbred Breeders Stakes 2-year-old trotting and pacing finals on Sunday.

The event features horses who are bred, trained and stabled in Maine, with competition in colt and filly divisions for both trotting and pacing. The top eight horses in each of the four divisions advanced to Sunday’s finals.

Post time is 1:30 p.m. and Scarborough Downs expects the total purses to exceed $250,000.

HOCKEY

QMJHL: Cameron Critchlow had three goals and an assist and Etienne Brodeur scored twice to lead the Lewiston Maineiacs to an 8-3 win over the Rimouski Oceanic in a season opener at Lewiston.
