Three people received minor injuries in a two-car accident on Route 1 in Saco at 5:20 p.m. today.

Saco Police Sgt. Chris Hardiman said a 1995 Volvo operated by Jordan Herrick, 19, of Saco was rear-ended by a 2005 Saab operated by Brian Lorom, 46, of Scarborough. Hardiman said Herrick was traveling north and making a turn when his car was struck from behind.

The two drivers and Brittany Roux, 19, of Saco, a passenger in the Herrick vehicle, were taken to Southern Maine Medical Center where they were treated and released.

The cars were heavily damaged, said Hardiman. Traffic on the northbound lanes of Route 1 was rerouted to the southbound lane for about a half hour while the accident was cleared.

This story was revised at 6:17 p.m., Sept. 20, 2010, to correct the name of Jordan Herrick.
