UNITY — About 60,000 people are expected to attend the Common Ground Country Fair, which is dedicated to the rural and agricultural traditions of Maine.

The 34th annual fair, in Unity, opens this morning and runs through Sunday. It’s sponsored by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association and features more than 700 events.

The fair draws Maine vendors, artisans, entertainers and farmers. Fair food is Maine grown and organic.

Fair Director Jim Ahearne says more than 2,000 volunteers chip in to bring the fair to life each year.
