PORTLAND — Five cruise ships are due in Portland throughout the week.

Between Wednesday and Saturday, ships carrying nearly 10,000 passengers are scheduled to visit the city.

On Wednesday, the Carnival Glory calls to port before heading for New Brunswick later in the day. Two ships, the Independence and the Celebrity Summit, are due Thursday. The Celebrity Summit, carrying 1,900 passengers, then sails for Bar Harbor.

Friday, the MV Arcadia will bring 1,870 passengers to Portland for her maiden call to the city.

The Explorer of Seas, with 3,114 passengers, carries the most passengers of the cruise ships visiting Portland this year and arrives Saturday. The Explorer embarks for Bar Harbor at the end of the day.
