Portland High School will hold its annual golf scramble at Riverside Golf Course on Saturday. The tournament benefits the basketball and soccer programs at Portland High. The Maine USATF fall cross country series continues at Smiling Hill Farm in Westbrook on Sunday. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., a course walk will be held at 1 p.m. and the race is at 2 p.m. The meet is the second of seven preliminary meets leading up to the state championships in November. The entry fee is $4, and USATF registration is also required and available at the meet ($15 for youths, $30 for adults). Ribbons will be awarded in several age categories. Central Maine Community College will hold its alumni basketball games on Oct. 23. All former players are encouraged to participate.
