GORHAM – Brandi Emerson scored off a penalty corner early in the second half Thursday as Gorham upset top-ranked Cheverus 1-0 in a Southern Maine Activities Association field hockey game.

Kelly Devoe and Alyssa Clark assisted for the Rams (5-5).

Patty Smith needed six saves to shut out the Stags (7-2).

PORTLAND 3, SOUTH PORTLAND 2: Raechel Allen scored all three goals for the Bulldogs (4-4), including the winner in overtime against South Portland (4-5) at Portland.

Allen scored with 2:25 left in overtime on a breakaway.

In regulation, Allen answered goals from Olivia Edwards in the first half and Bri Brower in the second half.

BONNY EAGLE 3, KENNEBUNK 0: Chelsea Yates scored twice for the Scots (6-3) against the Rams (6-3-1) at Standish.

Peyton Dostie also scored and Rebecca Coney earned the shutout with 13 saves.

SCARBOROUGH 5, SANFORD 0: The Red Storm (8-0) got goals from five players and shut out the Redskins (4-5) at Scarborough.

Lindsey Dobecki, Sarah Bunting, Lauren Sullivan, Kelsey Howard and Chelsea Michaud scored in the first half. Rebecca Mitchell and Shannon Hicks combined for two saves for Scarborough.

THORNTON ACADEMY 6, NOBLE 0: Katrina Thibodeau had three goals and an assist to pace Thornton Academy (6-3-1) over Noble (2-7) at Saco.

Thibodeau scored twice in the first half, and Thornton scored its final four goals over a six-minute span in the second half.

Morgan Foss-Ouellette collected a rebound off a penalty corner and scored to make it 3-0 with 15:23 left. Katie Campisi, Thibodeau and Breanna Thibodeau each added a goal.

WINDHAM 4, MASSABESIC 2: Sarah Skvorak scored twice for the Eagles (2-7-1) against the Mustangs (5-4) at Windham.

Colleen Holtan added a goal and an assist, and Andrea Feeney had 12 saves for Windham.

The Eagles led 4-0 until Massabesic scored twice in the final seven minutes.

Allie Braley had a goal and an assist for Massabesic.

WESTBROOK 3, MCAULEY 0: Olivia Marsden had a goal and an assist as Westbrook (8-1), which scored all three goals in the final 13 minutes of the first half, beat McAuley (3-7) at Portland.

Marsden scored unassisted with 12:54 left in the first half. Sarah Howard took a feed from Melissa Pettis for a goal at 6:04, and Marsden set up Ally Lemay at 2:54.

LEAVITT 1, BELFAST 1: Ashland Hall scored from Madison Cummings after 4:20 for Belfast, (6-2-2) and Adrie Newton tied it for Leavitt (7-1-1) from Holly Gallop with 11:34 left at Belfast.

Paxton Mohney made six saves for Belfast.

CONY 1, MT. ARARAT 0: Chelsea Begin scored from Nicole Kirshner as Cony (7-2) beat Mt. Ararat (4-7) at Augusta.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2, CAPE ELIZABETH 2: An own goal in the final five minutes helped the Capers (4-3-1) secure a tie against the Patriots (3-4-2) at Cape Elizabeth.

After Karen Barrett of Cape Elizabeth scored from Abby Armstrong, Kristen LaBrecque tied it at 15:52.

Julia Martell’s unassisted goal gave Gray-New Gloucester a 2-1 lead early in the second half.

Katie Morency had 13 saves for the Patriots. The Capers held a 30-4 advantage in shots.

SACOPEE VALLEY 1, POLAND 0: Emily Lane scored with 42 seconds left in the first half to lift the Hawks (7-1-1) over the Knights (3-7) at Poland.

Courtney Ross made two saves for the shutout.

Cassie Marsiola of Poland finished with seven saves.

WINSLOW 3, ROCKLAND 0: Sarah Fowler, Kelsea Bouchard and Stephanie Brawn scored as the Black Raiders (7-2-1) beat the Tigers (1-7-2) at Rockland.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 2, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: Haley Kaliher broke a scoreless tie on a cross from Olivia Dubois after 10 minutes of the second half as the Seagulls (4-4-1) defeated Traip Academy (1-7) at Kittery,

Anna Foss made it 2-0 on a 25-yard direct kick, and Gillian Foss had five saves for Old Orchard.

VOLLEYBALL

BIDDEFORD 3, GREELY 0: Keila Grigware won 20 services to lead the Tigers to a 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 win at Biddeford.

Grigware had three aces, including one that ended the first game, and seven kills.

Renee Trottier had several clutch kills and finished with seven kills and 10 assists for Biddeford. Alyssa Drapeau led the Tigers with 12 kills.

YARMOUTH 3, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 0: Bailey Sheehan had six service points and Amelia Gallay made three kills for visiting Yarmouth, which won 25-13, 25-12, 25-9.

Anna Lyden was 8 of 10 in serves with four aces, and Chelsea Muller was 6 of 8 serving with three aces for NYA.
