Red Claws pick up former Michigan player

The Maine Red Claws acquired forward DeShawn Sims through the NBA Development League available player pool and waived forward Lamonte Ulmer.

The 22-year-old Sims played for PAOK Thessaloniki BC in Greece, averaging 12.3 points in three games. He also participated in the NBA summer league, playing for the Boston Celtics in Orlando, Fla., and the Dallas Mavericks in Las Vegas.

Sims played at Michigan, averaging 16.8 points and 7.6 rebounds in his senior season.

QMJHL: Pierre-Olivier Morin and Kirill Kabanov each had two goals to lead the Lewiston Maineiacs to a 7-4 win over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens at Lewiston.

Etienne Brodeur, Michael Chaput and Jess Tanguy also scored for Lewiston, which led 4-1 after one period.

COLLEGE MEN: Todd Shigo of Naples, a 2007 graduate of Lake Region High, will represent Stonehill College in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League senior all-star game for players from Division I and II schools at 3 p.m. Sunday at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.
