HALLOWELL — A body discovered off Winthrop Street this afternoon is that of Paul Allen.

Police had been searching for the 47-year-old Augusta man since Saturday afternoon when his pickup truck was found parked along Town Farm Road, said Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland.

Allen’s death is considered suspicious, McCausland said.

A team of detectives from the Maine State Police spent the afternoon investigating the area. The state medical examiner was called to assist with that investigation.

An autopsy on Allen’s body will take place Monday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta, McCausland said.
