Fine fare and spirits at weekend benefit

PULL AN Adirondack chair up to a fire pit overlooking the river. Grab some hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants like Alisson’s and Duffy’s and a cocktail from the ice bar, and you’re all set to kick off winter at the Nonantum Resort’s Fire and Ice Bar. Indoor fireside seating is also available. Some of the proceeds will go to Winter Kids, a program that helps children develop healthy habits through outdoor winter activities.

FRIDAY IS International Terra Madre Day, a day to celebrate local foods. Some of the delegates to the Slow Food Terra Madre conference in Torino, Italy, will be sharing their experiences from this ultimate foodie event. Panelists include Amanda Beal of the Penobscot East Resource Center, Lisa Fernandes of Portland Maine Permaculture and Russell Libby of MOFGA.

HOW MUCH: Bring a potluck dish that, if possible, focuses on local ingredients. Also bring your own dishes, utensils, etc.
