ARLINGTON, Va.  — About 24,000 Maine-made balsam wreaths are due to be placed on graves of military personnel at Arlington National Cemetery today.

It’s the 19th consecutive year that wreaths from Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine, will be laid on veterans’ gravestones.

Company President Morrill Worcester provided 8,000 more wreaths than last year for the gravestones at Arlington.

The Arlington project is part of a larger effort by Maine-based nonprofit Wreaths Across America, with more than 200,000 wreaths donated to 500 veterans’ cemeteries across the country and 24 overseas locations.
