BANGOR — Officials say police in Bangor were called upon to inspect a suspicious package on a small private plane at the Bangor International Airport in what turned out to be a false alarm.

According to the Bangor Daily News, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents called for the department’s bomb squad with its explosives-detection dog around noon Saturday to help inspect a Gulfstream Aerospace jet shortly after it landed.

In a prepared statement today, the border protection agency said the dog alerted agents to an area of the plane, but upon further inspection nothing of danger was found.
