Buses are returning Cape Elizabeth Middle School students home after a fire in a dryer in the school cafeteria this morning led officials to close the school.
The fire was reported at 8:40 a.m. and although it was quickly extinguished, the lingering smell from the fire permeated parts of the school, a notice on the school’s website said.
Bag lunches for Pond Cove Elementary School students will be prepared at the high school cafe.
Buses were scheduled to start returning students at 10 a.m.
