PORTLAND – Alex Hadiaris scored 20 points Tuesday night to help Waynflete rally to a 57-49 victory against Fryeburg Academy in a Western Maine Conference schoolboy basketball game.

The Flyers (2-0), a Class C school, used a 19-10 run in the final period to wipe out a 39-38 deficit against the Class B Raiders (1-1).

Joe Veroneau added 14 points for Waynflete. Colby Locke led Fryeburg with 14 points.

 

SCARBOROUGH 61, MASSABESIC 36: Zach Bean scored 10 of his 20 points in the first quarter as the Red Storm (2-0) took a 21-7 lead against the Mustangs (0-2) at Scarborough.

Ben Wessel added 14 points for Scarborough. Chris Gahm had 11 for Massabesic.

A.R. GOULD 55, SACOPEE VALLEY 46: Mekonnen Nigussie had 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Bears (1-0) against the Hawks (0-2) at South Portland.

George Hopkins added 14 points for the Bears, who used a 23-11 run in the fourth quarter to wipe out a 35-32 deficit.

Ryan Morse scored 18 points for Sacopee.

 

MARSHWOOD 55, GORHAM 32: Matthew Crosby scored 13 points for the Hawks (2-0), who used a 19-6 run in the third quarter to pull away from the Rams (0-2) at South Berwick.

Danny Veino scored all nine of his points on three 3-pointers in the rally. Jack Verrill finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, Tyler Hickey added 10 points, and Addison Casey had nine points and 10 rebounds for Marshwood.

Andy Turner led Gorham with nine points.

 

SOUTH PORTLAND 47, WINDHAM 31: Vukasin Vignjvic scored a game-high 17 points for the Red Riots (2-0) against the Eagles (1-1) at Windham.

Tanner Hyland contributed 14 points for South Portland, which closed the game with a 17-9 run.

Drew Gagnon led Windham with 11 points.

THORNTON ACADEMY 64, KENNEBUNK 45: James Ek scored 20 points and Andrew Shaw had 18 to pace the Golden Trojans (2-0) against the Rams (0-2) at Saco.

Dakota Tarbox added 12 points and eight rebounds for Thornton, which led 39-22 at the half. Shaw and Ek combined for 24 first-half points.

Vann Brazz scored 15 for Kennebunk.

 

OXFORD HILLS 56, MORSE 28: Deric Hanscom scored a game-high 20 points for the Vikings (1-1) against the Shipbuilders (0-2) at South Paris.

Dan Taylor added 10 points, and Matt McVety and John Frechette each forced five steals for Oxford Hills, which led 28-11 at halftime.

Ted Cole led Morse with 10 points.

 

DEERING 60, SANFORD 58: John Amabile scored 27 points for the Rams (1-1), who shot 12 of 16 from the line in the fourth quarter to edge the Redskins (0-2) at Sanford.

Amabile put Deering ahead for good, 58-56, with a pair of free throws with two minutes remaining.

Alex Shain led Sanford with 14 points. Jon Schroder added 13 and Ryan Camire had 11.

WELLS 88, LAKE REGION 46: Alex Furness scored 30 points and Paul McDonough chipped in with 23 as the Warriors (1-1) handled the Lakers (0-2) at Naples.

The Warriors led 41-23 at halftime, then outscored Lake Region 29-14 in the third quarter.

Michael Triglione finished with 14 points and Kevin Gilson had 11 for the Lakers.

 

PORTLAND 62, NOBLE 49: Portland (1-1) scored the first 17 points and cruised past Noble (0-2) at North Berwick.

Peter Donato led the Bulldogs with 16 points, Nick Volger followed with 15 and Mike Herrick scored 11.

Xandy Hauser paced the Knights with 13 points.

 

BONNY EAGLE 56, BIDDEFORD 45: Dustin Cole scored a game-high 19 points for the Scots (2-0) against the Tigers (0-2) at Biddeford.

Up 20-19 at the break, Bonny Eagle opened the second half with an 11-0 run.

CAPE ELIZABETH 56, POLAND 52: Theo Bowe scored 26 points as the Capers (2-0) held off the Knights (0-2) at Poland.

Cam Brown added 17 points for the Capers.

 

CAMDEN HILLS 94, BELFAST 50: Tyler McFarland scored 39 points as the Windjammers (2-0) defeated Belfast (0-2) at Camden.

 

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 66, TRAIP ACADEMY 62: Ryan Gallant scored 23 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Seagulls (2-0) over the Rangers (1-2) at Old Orchard Beach.

Rhyeem Lang of the Seagulls finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and two blocked shots.

 

MEDOMAK VALLEY 81, ROCKLAND 45: John Murray scored a career-high 27 points and added 13 rebounds to lead Medomak Valley (1-1) over the Tigers (0-2) at Rockland.

 

MT. ARARAT 61, BRUNSWICK 52: Josh Walker scored 19 points to lead the Eagles (2-0) over the Dragons (1-1) at Topsham.

 

RICHMOND 53, BUCKFIELD 22: Michael Christie scored 14 points and Tom Carter added 13 for the Bobcats (2-0) against the Bucks (1-1) at Buckfield.
