Gov.-elect Paul LePage today nominated former Husson University President Bill Beardsley as commissioner of Conservation and former legislator Sawin Millett as head of the Department of Administrative and Financial Services.

Those cabinet-level nominations will require Senate approval.

LePage, a Republican who takes office Jan. 5, also announced high level staff positions. He has hired Dan Billings as his chief legal counsel; John Butera as senior policy adviser for economic development; Dan Demeritt as director of communications and legislative affairs; and Kathleen Newman as deputy chief of staff and legislative director.
