VASSALBORO — Forty-four new police officers will soon be shining their new badges after they graduate from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.

The officers graduate today from the academy in Vassalboro following 18 weeks of training on topics ranging from firearms and crime scene processing to domestic violence and criminal law.

The officers will go to work for 30 municipal police departments, four sheriff’s departments, the Maine Marine Patrol and the Maine Warden Service. Many of them will be on patrol as soon as this weekend.
