PORTLAND — The snow will be winding down in southern Maine this afternoon.

The snow had already ended in central New Hampshire by 12:30 p.m. and will be stopping in southern Maine in the next few hours as the storm moves off to the northeast, according to Margaret Curtis, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

The heaviest snowfall in southern Maine was reported in South Berwick, which saw 7.5 inches. Gray, meanwhile, had about 4 inches. Another inch or two of snowfall can be expcted before the storm moves out of the area.
