PORTLAND — Vinny Dell’Aquila scored 48 seconds into overtime as Cape Elizabeth completed a comeback from a three-goal deficit to beat Winslow 5-4 in a boys’ hockey game Monday at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Trailing 4-1 heading into the third period, Cape Elizabeth (8-4) got goals from Wilson Laprade, Drew Grennon and Nick Breed to force overtime. Breed tied the game with 3:13 left in regulation.

Will Bollenbach scored the opening goal for Cape Elizabeth before Winslow (3-7) answered with the next four, including two by Justin Bouchard.

 

LEWISTON 6, THORNTON ACADEMY 3: Sam Cloutier scored four goals, including two in the first period, as the Blue Devils (9-0-1) beat the Golden Trojans (6-4) at the Colisee in Lewiston.

Colt Steele added a goal and an assist, and Cam Poussard made 32 saves.

Robbie Downing scored twice for Thornton Academy. CJ Maksut had a goal and two assists.

 

YARMOUTH 7, WESTBROOK 0: Alex Kurtz scored twice for the Clippers (8-4) in their win over the Blue Blazes (2-9) at Travis Roy Arena.

Joey King, Bart Gallagher and Max Grimm each added a goal and an assist and Red DeSmith made 20 saves. Tyler Jack had 29 saves for Westbrook.

 

NOBLE 5, KENNEBUNK 2: David Sullivan had a goal and three assists for the Knights (7-1) in a win over the Rams (4-7) at Biddeford Ice Arena.

Ben Haskell made 43 saves for Noble. Kennebunk’s Jordon Kadlik stopped 41 shots.

BASKETBALL

THORNTON ACADEMY 81, MARSHWOOD 68: Andrew Shaw scored 21 points and James Ek added 19 to help the Golden Trojans (8-3) down the Hawks (6-5) at Saco.

Justin Pollard scored all 12 of his points during the third quarter as Thornton Academy used a 25-13 run to take a 62-51 lead.

Matthew Crosby scored 23 points to lead four double-digit scorers for Marshwood. Jack Verrill added 15, Tyler Hickey had 12 and Addison Casey finished with 11.

SOUTH PORTLAND 52, KENNEBUNK 46: Vukasin Vignjevic scored 24 points, and the Red Riots (9-2) overcame Kennebunk’s 3-point shooting to beat the Rams (2-9) at South Portland.

Tanner Hyland added 12 points for South Portland, which led 22-10 at halftime but had to survive a barrage of 3-pointers by Kennebunk’s Vann Brazz and Matt Dube in the second half. The Rams knocked down 12 shots from beyond the arc — six by Brazz (19 points) and five by Dube (17 points).

 

POLAND 58, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 47: Jake Littlefield scored 27 points and Jordan Chase added 15 to lead the Knights (6-6) past the Patriots (7-5) at Poland.

The Knights used a 15-6 third-quarter run to take a 42-33 lead. Littlefield made 6 of 7 from the free-throw line in the fourth to help seal it.

Adam Jensen led Gray-New Gloucester with 19 points. Josh Farynaz added 16.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 63, GOULD ACADEMY 42: Ryheem Lang scored 16 points for the Seagulls (8-3) in their win at home over the Huskies (5-5).

Andrew Fleury added 13 points, and Jason Dutton had nine points and 10 rebounds.

Taylor Peck-Moad had 13 points for Gould.

 

ISLESBORO 79, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 24: DJ Johnson scored 29 points and Jason Hatch added 25 for the Eagles (11-2) in a win over the Lions (1-10) at South Portland.

Ben Hammon led Greater Portland Christian with 18 points.
