DETROIT – Bob Seger is gearing up for his first tour in four years, the Detroit rocker confirmed Thursday.

Shows in “major cities across North America” will begin in March, with dates to be announced soon, according to a statement from Seger’s management.

The tour confirmation, which follows a Wednesday video teaser on Seger’s website, isn’t the only news from the Seger camp: A yet-untitled album is also on the way from the 65-year-old star, who will preview some of the material in a live set largely made up of classic hits with his Silver Bullet Band.

Before his 2006-’07 run, Seger had toured just twice in two decades.

Seger had hoped to hit the road by late 2010. Speaking with radio personality Dick Purtan in March, he talked hopefully of a fall tour.

While he eased out of the public eye in the ’90s to spend time with his family, including a son and daughter who are now in their mid-teens, Seger continued to write, record and stockpile songs.

His 2006 tour accompanied the release of “Face the Promise,” his first new album in a decade, although his shows were dominated by his repertoire of classics.

Hopkins’ latest film is “The Rite,” which opens today. He won the best-actor Oscar for 1991’s “Silence of the Lambs.”

NEW YORK – Despite a barrage of bad reviews and pair of Razzie nominations, “Sex and the City” star Kim Cattrall hopes for another installment in the TV and film franchise.

The 54-year-old actress says she’s glad the Razzies exist because “it keeps you honest.” She hasn’t been approached for a third film yet, but says she believes the fan following is still strong.

LOS ANGELES – Charlie Sheen’s publicist says the actor has been hospitalized in Los Angeles with severe abdominal pains.

Publicist Stan Rosenfield gave no other details of the 45-year-old’s condition.

Celebrity website TMZ.com was the first to report Sheen’s hospitalization Thursday. TMZ said Sheen was taken by ambulance following an early morning 911 call.

The Emmy-nominated star of CBS’ “Two and a Half Men” has been dogged by personal problems and apparent health issues. This is his third hospitalization in as many months. And just last week, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler said network officials “have a high level of concern” about his off-camera behavior.
