YARMOUTH — The annual Cumberland County Spelling Bee, which was scheduled to have been held tonight at the Frank H. Harrison Middle School in Yarmouth, has been postponed until Feb. 8.

Bruce Brann, the spelling bee governor for Cumberland County, said slick, snow-covered roads made it too risky to ask students from 10 county schools to venture out.

Brann, who is also the principal of the Harrison Middle School, said about 20 students from towns such as Brunswick, Cape Elizabeth, Falmouth, Freeport, Bridgton, and Scarborough are expected to compete.
Next Tuesday’s spelling bee will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the same location.

The state spelling bee is March 19.
