SCARBOROUGH — Cole Haan is moving to town this summer.

Cole Haan is relocating its headquarters from Route 1 at the Yarmouth-Cumberland town line to the Roundwood Business Park, off Payne Road in Scarborough, according to Drew Sigfridson, a broker at CBRE/The Boulos Co.

The move will involve approximately 110 to 120 employees, Sigfridson said. It is part of the company’s long-term plan to transition from owned property to leased property, he said.

The maker of high-end footwear, handbags and other leather accessories has leased 38,000 square feet of office space on the second and third floors of a three-story building on Ashley Drive.

The company built its current Yarmouth headquarters in the mid-1990s. Dallas-based Tyler Technologies bought the property for $12.7 million in 2008, according to town tax records.  Tyler Technologies, which has an office in Falmouth, will use the space that Cole Haan is leaving behind.

Cole Haan was founded as a brand in Chicago in 1928. E.E. Taylor, a Maine-based shoe firm, purchased the company in 1957. George Denney, who had worked for the company as a leather cutter, purchased the label in 1975.

Cole Haan was purchased by Nike Inc., in 1988. It also has a global headquarters in New York City.
