Dining to aid a classroom

The Central School Outdoor Classroom committee is holding Dine Out South Berwick, an all-day fundraiser set for Thursday at local restaurants including The Early Bird, Black Bean Cafe (Rollinsford, N.H.), Pepperland Cafe and The Lodge at Spring Hill.

A portion of meals proceeds earned on that day will directly benefit the school’s Hoop House project to initiate healthy gardening and eating practices for students. For more details, or to make a donation, e-mail cesoutdoors@gmail.com.

Nordic ski trail to open

The new Ragged Mountain Nordic ski trail will open at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Camden Snow Bowl.

A joint project of the Ragged Mountain Recreation Area and Coastal Mountains Land Trust, the trail was constructed in collaboration with a crew from the Maine Conservation Corps and volunteers from the Land Trust, Camden Hills Regional High School and the Midcoast Chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association.

The project was funded with support of the Knox County Fund at the Maine Community Foundation, the Land for Maine’s Future Program and the Maine Recreational Trails Program.

Ladies Society Valentine tea

The Ladies Society of the First Congregational Church of Kennebunkport will present a Valentine’s Day-themed tea at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the church’s Ober Hall, 141 North St. Members of the Ladies’ Society are encouraged to bring appetizers, finger sandwiches or desserts to share with attendees.

Sweetheart book sale

The Casco Public Library, Route 121, will offer its Sweetheart of a Deal Book Sale from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays beginning Feb. 6 and running through the month of February.

Snowshoeing class and walk

Sugarloaf ski instructor and outdoor sports enthusiast Lori LaRochelle will give a workshop on the basics of snowshoeing at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center, 521 Main St.

The talk will be followed by a short snowshoe walk at the Damariscotta River Association’s Farm on Belvedere Road in Newcastle. Attendees must bring their own snowshoes and poles. To register, call 563-1363. Cost is $5.
