WESTBROOK — The Westbrook Police are investigating the killing of nine ducks at Riverbank Park Thursday morning.

The police department reported the incident on its Facebook page.

The ducks, which huddle on the road next to the park, were deliberately killed by someone who drove through the flock at about 11:30 a.m., according to the report.

“The ducks will move for vehicles, though, which makes this especially troubling since it doesn’t appear to be accidental,” according to the report.

The ducks are a popular attraction for families with young children who descend on the park to feed the feathered creatures.

Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to call the department at 854-0644 or its anonymous crime tip hotline at 591-8117.
