FARMINGTON — There won’t be a shortage of snow for this weekend’s dog sled races in Farmington, Maine.
Last year’s event was canceled because of lack of snow, but organizers with the Downeast Sled Dog Club say there’s almost too much snow much for this year’s races, which kick off today and run through Sunday.
Joy Turner says about 40 to 50 mushing teams are expected for the races, which are held at the Sandy River Farm on Route 2. Turner says $1,500 has been raised from local businesses to use as prize money.
