Cumberland County has won an award for its financial reporting.

The county was given a certificate of achievement for excellence for its reports by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The award, presented to the county’s finance director, Vic Labrecque, is considered the highest form of recognition for government accounting and financial reporting.

“This is a reflection of the effort put forth by the entire county staff, attempting to assure open and straightforward reporting of activity to our municipalities and citizens,” Labrecque said.

The GFOA is a professional association of about t 17,500 government finance professionals.
