WESTBOOK — Zach Gardiner scored 12 points and Ian King had nine points and seven assists to help Westbrook to a 40-32 victory over Marshwood in a SMAA boys’ basketball game Monday night.

The Blue Blazes (11-5) took a 19-12 halftime lead and held off the Hawks (8-8).

Matthew Crosby and Jack Verrill had 10 points apiece for Marshwood.

 

THORNTON ACADEMY 66, BIDDEFORD 43: Andrew Shaw scored 18 points and Justin Pollard had 13 for Thornton Academy (13-3), which held a 43-21 rebounding advantage at Biddeford (6-10).

Pollard scored seven in the second quarter, including a half-court shot at the buzzer, as the Trojans used a 19-7 run to take a 33-20 lead.

Robert Cote scored 17 points for the Tigers.

 

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 65, GOULD 44: Ryan Gallant scored 19 of his 21 points in the first half to help the Seagulls (11-4) take a 45-18 lead over the Huskies (6-8) at Bethel.

Ryheem Lang added 17 points for Old Orchard Beach, including 11 in the first half.

Will Bunge scored 17 for Gould Academy.

CONY 63, MORSE 37: Keith Priest scored 17 points to lead the Rams (7-9) past the Shipbuilders (0-16) at Bath.

Robert Foss added 14 and Zach Lachance had 12 for Cony.

 

MASSABESIC 67, NOBLE 66: Chad Shoemaker and Ryan Dodge combined for 35 points for the Mustangs (1-15), who took a 29-18 halftime lead and survived a late charge by the Knights (3-13) at North Berwick.

Mitch Edmunds scored 24 points for Noble, which nearly overcame a 12-point deficit in the final two minutes. The Knights missed a potential tying 3-pointer with less than 10 seconds left.

Chris Gahm added 14 points for Massabesic. Nick Grant chipped in 15 for Noble.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

DEERING 51, MARSHWOOD 30: Kayla Burchill scored a game-high 20 points for the Rams (15-1) in their win over the Hawks (7-9) in South Berwick.

Teammate Marissa MacMillan added 11 points in the win.

Deering had a three-point lead at halftime, but outscored Marshwood 14-2 in the third quarter and never looked back.

Jorden Mitchell scored 10 points to lead Marshwood in the loss.

MCAULEY 56, MASSABESIC 29: Rebecca Knight powered her way to a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions (15-1) at home against the Mustangs (6-10).

Allie Clement added 16 points while Alexa Coulombe tallied eight points, eight rebounds and five blocks for the Lions.

 

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 50, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 26: Morgan Scully scored 14 points for the Panthers (9-7), who finished on a 23-2 run against the Seagulls (8-9) at Yarmouth.

Eliza Gendron and Blair Haggett each added 12 points for North Yarmouth Academy.

SACOPEE VALLEY 32, PINE TREE ACADEMY 19: Catherine Murch scored 12 points to lead the Hawks (8-8) in their win at home over the Breakers (2-13).

Anna Paige scored 12 points for Pine Tree Academy.

 

GEORGES VALLEY 55, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 46: Jill Bradbury led all scores with 25 points for the Buccaneers (9-8) in their win over the Mustangs (5-12) in Monmouth.

Kennadi Grover tallied a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Buccaneers.

SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 47, HYDE 44: Ruth Towne scored 22 points to lead the Guardians (8-7) past the Phoenix (5-12) in Bath.

Sage Harris led Hyde with 22 points.

BOYS’ HOCKEY

YORK 6, YARMOUTH 2: Jared Clauson had a goal and two assists and five players recorded two points for the Wildcats (9-5), who had four unanswered goals in the final 19 minutes to sink the Clippers (8-7) at York.

Mark Brown and Max Watson scored for Yarmouth.

MASSABESIC 4, BONNY EAGLE 1: AJ Gass scored three goals for the Mustangs (5-9) against the Scots (3-11) at USM Arena in Gorham.

Teammate Ian Wyman had three assists while Jordan Levesque tallied two assists.

Jason Harmon scored for Bonny Eagle.

Kyle Maclay made 16 saves for Massabesic.
