Air Force Airmen Ryan M. Libby and Clifford W. Dow graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Libby earned distinction as an honor graduate. The son of Jonathan Libby of Bowdoin and Theresa Taylor-Libby of Topsham, he is a 2007 graduate of Mount Ararat High School, Topsham.

Dow is son of Jeanne Dow of Harrison and Cliff Dow of Woodstock. He graduated in 2008 from Oxford Hills High School, South Paris.

 

Army Reserve Spc. Sandra L. Young has been mobilized at Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst, N.J., in preparation for deployment to Iraq of Afghanistan. She is a member of 328th Human Resources Company and is a transportation management coordinator with nine years military service. Young graduated in 1981 from Bonny Eagle High School, Standish, and in 1998 from Lesley University, Cambridge, Mass.

 

Casco Bay Council of the U.S. Navy League and the Northern New England Chapter of the American Society of Naval Engineers are holding a dinner meeting at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at Longreach Hall at the Maine Maritime Museum. A presentation by Edward Polewarczyk, retired director of the Orbiter Production and Operations United Space Alliance, begins at 7 p.m. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for guests. Military Youth Vacation Winter Camp is being offered by the New Hampshire National Guard Child and American Youth Foundation Merrowvista in Center Tuftonboro, N.H. The program is free and is open to children ages 8 to 13 whose parents or siblings serve in the military and live in New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts or Vermont.

The program runs from 10:30 a.m. Feb. 22 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 24, as well as from 10:30 a.m. March 1 to 3:30 p.m. March 3. Campers stay at a winterized lodge, and activities include snowshoeing, indoor ropes course and climbing wall, arts and crafts, outdoor survival and a winter carnival. Space is limited.
