HARTFORD, Conn. – Joe Zeglinski scored 33 points to lead Hartford over the University of Maine 74-65 Thursday night in an America East Conference men’s basketball game.

The Hawks (8-16, 5-6 America East) also defeated Maine 61-59 on Jan. 5 and avenged last season’s series sweep by the Black Bears (14-10, 8-4).

Hartford used a 12-0 run to build a 40-29 halftime lead. The Hawks led by as many as 17 in the second half when they shot 12 for 23 from the floor (52.2 percent).

Gerald McLemore scored 18 points for the Black Bears, who have lost three in a row after a seven-game winning streak.

ST. JOHN’S 89, (10) UCONN 72: Dwight Hardy scored a career-high 33 points and St. John’ (14-9, 6-5 Big East) took command in the second half to beat Connecticut (18-4, 6-5) at New York.

(4) TENNESSEE 61, FLORIDA 39: Shekinna Stricklen had 17 points and Glory Johnson scored 16 to lead Tennessee (23-2, 11-0 SEC) in a victory over Florida (14-12, 4-8) at Knoxville, Tenn.

(11) MICHIGAN STATE 60, (23) PENN STATE 49: Lykendra Johnson had 24 points and 12 rebounds and Michigan State (21-3, 9-2 Big Ten) defeated Penn State (20-6, 9-3) at State College, Pa.

(20) MIAMI 83, (12) MARYLAND 75: Shenise Johnson scored 30 points as Miami (21-3, 7-2 ACC) beat Maryland (20-4, 6-3) at Coral Gables, Fla.

Lynetta Kizer had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Terrapins.

(13) NORTH CAROLINA 60, CLEMSON 47: Italee Lucas scored 15 points as visiting North Carolina (22-3, 8-2 ACC) beat Clemson (10-15, 3-7) despite committing a season-high 27 turnovers.

SOUTH CAROLINA 66, (15) KENTUCKY 61: La’Keisha Sutton and Ieasia Walker each scored 17 points and South Carolina (14-10, 6-5 SEC) upset Kentucky (18-6, 7-4) at Columbia, S.C.

(18) WISCONSIN-GREEN BAY 81, ILLINOIS-CHICAGO 50: Celeste Hoewisch scored 20 points to lead visiting Wisconsin-Green Bay (23-1, 12-0 Horizon League) past Illinois-Chicago (10-12, 5-6).

VANDERBILT 69, (24) GEORGIA 59: Jasmine Lister scored 22 points and visiting Vanderbilt (17-7, 8-3 SEC) withstood a late 17-2 run to beat Georgia (18-6, 8-3).
