FORT KENT — NBA Hall-of-Famer Scottie Pippen is in northern Maine as the biathlon World Cup races continue in Fort Kent.

Today, women skiers will compete in the 7.5-kilometer sprint on the second day of the four-day event at the 10th Mountain Center. It is the second of back-to-back World Cup events in Maine following last weekend’s races in Presque Isle.

Organizers say Pippen, a six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls, is arriving this afternoon and attending the international parade tonight. Pippen will stick around for Saturday’s biathlon competition before taking a snowmobile ride after the races.

The biathlon is a sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle marksmanship.
