READFIELD — The Massachusetts man charged with killing the owner of the Readfield home where he had been living with his girlfriend is due to make his first court appearance in Maine.

Thirty-two-year-old David Silva is due in court today.

Silva has been held at the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta since returning to Maine after he waived extradition from Massachusetts on Friday.

Court documents say Silva had planned to rob the home of 53-year-old Robert Orr.

The documents say Silva’s girlfriend was awakened by gunfire last Tuesday night and saw Orr’s body before they traveled to Massachusetts.

WMTW-TV says that during Monday’s court appearance, the charges against Silva will be read but he will not be required to enter a plea.
