NEW FACES

Bob Dunfey joined ITNPortland as executive director. Dunfey was most recently a consultant in hotels, restaurants and real estate development. 

Kris Dorer has joined ITNAmerica as community development specialist. Dorer has several years of experience as a consultant for nonprofits. 

Barbara A. Gyure, Jeffrey L. Heidt and Dennis J. White joined Verrill Dana. Gyure joined the firm as counsel in its intellectual property and business law groups. She has more than 20 years of experience advising biotech and pharmaceutical clients. Heidt joined the firm as a partner and will chair its health care group. He was previously with Ropes & Gray and represents health care clients on strategic, financial and regulatory issues. White joined the firm as partner in its business law group. Previously with McDermott Will & Emery, he has more than 20 years of experience representing emerging and mature companies, family businesses, private equity and venture capital firms. 

Arthur Birt was named director of finance and administration for ecomaine. Birt was previously a controller for Great Northern Paper and a finance director of Brookfield Power New England. 

Chuck Gerry joined Tilson Technology Management as a senior consultant. Gerry was previously the director of technology for Unitel.

Keith Nicely and Craig Nicely joined Better Homes and Garden — The Masiello Group in Gorham.

Keith Nicely has more than 30 years of retail experience, including ownership in convenience stores, video stores and indoor tanning shops.

Craig Nicely is a 2009 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and has a degree in sports management from The Isenberg School of Management. 

Michael Hahn joined the Eaton Peabody law firm in Brunswick as a corporate finance attorney.

Hahn will represent financial institutions, businesses and institutional investors in connection with negotiating, structuring and documenting commercial loans. He has experience in business reorganization and federal and state insolvency law. Hahn was previously with Greenberg Traurig LLP.

Katherine Knox and Kevan Lee Deckelmann, both of Portland, were named shareholders of Bernstein Shur. Knox is a member of the firm’s legislative and political law practice group. She focuses her practice on lobbying, campaign compliance and election law. Deckelmann is a member of the firm’s law practice group. She focuses on entity formations, mergers and acquisitions, and providing general counsel to a spectrum of businesses. 

Sue Strout and Jason Straetz were promoted at Gorham Savings Bank. Strout was promoted to senior business officer at the bank’s West Falmouth location. She joined the bank in May 2010 and was recently a core deposit development officer. Straetz was promoted to senior business officer at the bank’s Waterboro location. He has been with the bank since May 2002 and was most recently a customer relationship manager. 

Adam Hobson, an audit manager for Worthing and Going PA, a CPA firm with offices in Saco and Scarborough, was promoted to partner.

Hobson will assist with tax planning and compliance services to small businesses and individuals, while leading the company’s audit and attestation business.

Engineers in the Scarborough office of Stantec were recently honored with two international awards for their role in the design and installation of equipment to help reduce the nitrous oxide emissions at a power station in Stratton, Ohio. Stantec’s designs for installing two selective catalytic reduction systems in the constraints of the W.H. Sammis power station earned Construction Project of the Year in the Platts Global Energy Awards, as well as honorable mention in Power Engineering magazine’s Project of the Year program.

Tom Jones, owner of Tom Jones Photography in Brunswick, recently won several awards at the 2011 Maine Professional Photographers convention in January at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston. Jones received a blue ribbon for “Into the Light,” a family portrait of Elijah Ford, Katie Wing and their daughter, Jada Ford. He also received awards for his portraiture and commercial photography. 

Dan Bastarache was awarded top honors at Catholic Financial Life’s annual sales award ceremony Feb. 5. Bastarache, of Biddeford, received Vice President’s Club honors for exceptional sales throughout the year. He has been an adviser with Catholic Financial Life’s New England agency for 18 years. 

Port Harbor Marine in South Portland, along with its locations in Kittery, Raymond, Rockport and Holden, ranked sixth on the Boating Industry’s top 100 list, which recognizes the best-of-the-best of the more than 3,000 marine dealers in North America. 

Holbrook Health Center at Piper Shores in Scarborough received five stars in the U.S. News and World Report’s 2011 Best Nursing Homes.

Nursing homes receive an overall rating of one to five stars from the government based on a composite score from three distinct operational areas: health inspections, nursing home staffing and quality measures.

McClain Marketing Group, a strategic marketing solutions firm in Portland, received 11 awards in the eighth annual Service Industry Advertising Awards national competition.

The firm received three gold awards for its work with Maine Huts and Trails’ total ad campaign; Maz Group Real Estate’s logo letterhead design; and Verrill Dana’s newspaper ad series.

The firm received two silver awards for its work on the Compass Rose brochure and the Linked logo letterhead design.

Bronze awards were given to the firm for its Clark Insurance total ad campaign and Maine Technology Institute logo letterhead design. 

Christine Clark Williams, an account executive and director at Clark Insurance, was recognized as 2010 Business Person of the Year by the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce.

Williams, of Windham, was honored for her 14 years of service on behalf of the chamber. She served as vice president and president, chaired several standing committees and is currently a member of the organization’s board of directors.

KeyBank has expanded its KeyBank Plus service to an additional 22 branches in Maine. The service will be available at branches in Houlton, Portland and Biddeford. It allows anyone to cash his or her government and payroll checks, including income tax refund checks, at the branches for 1 percent of the value of the check.

Cole Haan in Yarmouth will be relocating to 6 Ashley Drive in the Roundwood Business Park in Scarborough this summer. 

The Coastal Counties Workforce Inc. partnered with the Sanford/Springvale Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development to increase awareness of access to work force development services and programs. The project will provide businesses with work force development information, referrals and employment placement and training opportunities. 

Jeffrey Porter, president and co-owner of Five-O Shore Road Restaurant and Caffe Prego in Ogunquit, was appointed to the board of directors for the Frannie Peabody Center. Porter has volunteered for the center, which provides prevention services for at-risk populations and direct services for people living with HIV/AIDS, with offices in York and Cumberland counties.

The following individuals were named officers of the center’s board of directors: Daniel D’Entremont of Biddeford will serve as president. D’Entremont owns and operates Maine-based management consulting firm Ferry Crossing LLC. Wendy R. Cherubini of Portland will serve as vice president. Cherubini is an analyst with the Legislature’s Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability. Fernando de Leon of Portland will serve as treasurer. De Leon works for Domain Language Inc., a software consulting company. Perry St. Louis of Portland will serve as secretary. St. Louis is the marketing communications manager for the Social Security Law Group, a Massachusetts firm specializing in Social Security disability advocacy. Mark Register of Ogunquit will chair the development committee. Register is an HIV clinical specialist for Johnson & Johnson covering northern New England. 

Andy Bernstein was appointed to the board of directors for ITNPortland. Bernstein is an attorney with the Law Offices of Joe Bornstein.
