The window of opportunity for the general public to register for the TD Bank Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race in August opened for eight minutes this morning.

That’s how long it took to fill the 4,000 slots made available. Cape Elizabeth residents had taken 51 minutes to register for 600 slots Monday morning.

A remaining 1,750 bib numbers will be awarded through a lottery system.

“Clearly the process worked very well to process 4,000 entries that quickly,” wrote race president David Weatherbie. “We have heard from several runners who were on at 7 a.m. and said it was smooth sailing.”
