AUGUSTA — Staff and the public are returning to the Augusta Civic Center after authorities investigated a report of bombs left inside and found the report to be false.

According to police radio traffic, the original complaint reported by civic center officials said a caller notified the facility that two fake bombs had been deployed in the building, and that a third package was, in fact, a bomb.

Authorities combed the building and cleared the building after approximately two hours.
