Forty-one immigrants in Maine were sworn in Friday as U.S. citizens. The ceremony was administered by Judge George Singal in U.S. District Court in Portland. After the ceremony, each participant was given an American flag from the Daughters of the American Revolution, a copy of the Mayflower Compact from the Maine chapter of the Mayflower Society, and a voter registration card from the League of Women Voters of the Greater Portland Area.
