Maine’s two-time Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott won a World Cup snowboardcross race Thursday in Arosa, Switzerland.

His protoge, Alex Tuttle, an up-and-coming rider from Stratton, took eighth place for the first top-10 World Cup result of his career.

Wescott came out of the gate in the lead in the final and drafted off France’s Pierre Vaultier, the current SBX World Cup leader, before running a pass that clinched the win.

Wescott will compete in the final SBX race of the year today.
