Maineiacs win in overtime to take charge in playoffs

Etienne Brodeur scored at 8:49 of overtime to lift the Lewiston Maineiacs to a 4-3 victory over the Moncton Wildcats in the fourth game of their QMJHL playoff series at Moncton, New Brunswick.

Lewiston took a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series, which returns to Lewiston for Game 5 at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Maineiacs took a 1-0 lead less than four minutes into the game when Kirill Kabanov assisted on a goal by Pierre-Olivier Morin. Kabanov then scored to make it 2-0 later in the first.

The Wildcats tied the game early in the third, but Lewiston regained the lead on a goal by Brodeur before Moncton’s Alex Saulnier scored with 3:47 left to send the game into overtime.
