CASCO — A Casco man was ordered today to spend seven years in prison for killing two friends in a Naples crash last summer.

Nicholas Sparrow, who turned 21 on Sunday, pled guilty in Cumberland County Superior Court to eluding police and two counts of manslaughter in the deaths of Thomas St. Saviour, 29, of Hiram and Michael Daye, 14, of Baldwin.

Sparrow was spotted by a Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputy driving fast with no headlights on Route 11 the night of Aug. 29. The deputy tried to pull them over and Sparrow, who police said had been drinking, tried to get away, eventually crashing into a tree.

Sparrow was already on probation for burglary. He was ordered today to serve the remaining 21 months of that sentence before starting his seven-year prison term. When he is released, he will be on probation for four years.
