SOUTH BERWICK – Luke Fernandes pitched a no-hitter Tuesday as Marshwood downed Portland 8-0 in a Telegram League baseball game.

Fernandes walked two and struck out nine.

Alex McLean had two hits and two RBI, and Ben Claus added three hits and a run for the Hawks (2-0), who broke it open with a six-run fifth inning.

Jack Verrill and Aaron Ares each hit a double for Marshwood against the Bulldogs (1-1).

WESTBROOK 23, NOBLE 0: Zach Collett had four hits and eight RBI, and Sean Murphy pitched a one-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks as the Blue Blazes (2-0) handled the Knights (1-1) in five innings at North Berwick.

Collett hit two two-run doubles, a two-run homer, an RBI single and a sacrifice fly.

Murphy had three hits with four RBI, including a two-run homer.

Zach Gardiner, Scott Heath, Kyle Heath and Joe Quinlan each had two hits.

SCARBOROUGH 9, KENNEBUNK 1: Ben Greenberg knocked in two runs on three hits to lead the Red Storm (1-1) past the Rams (0-2) at Kennebunk.

Ben Wessel gave up one run on seven hits, and finished with four strikeouts and no walks for Scarborough.

Matt Dube knocked in Dylan Cluff with a single in the fifth inning for Kennebunk.

SOUTH PORTLAND 8, MASSABESIC 6: Zack Horton doubled home two runs and also scored for South Portland (1-1) during a five-run fifth inning that broke a 2-2 tie and helped beat Massabesic (0-2) at Waterboro.

Will Bushey also hit an RBI double in the fifth.

GORHAM 6, SANFORD 5: Damon Wallace’s two-out single to center scored Brendon Joyce with the game-ending run as the Rams (1-1) culminated a wild seventh inning with a three-run rally to beat Sanford (0-2) at Gorham.

The Redskins, trailing 3-1, scored four times in the top of the seventh to take a 5-3 lead. Ryan Graffam doubled home two runs and scored on a wild pitch.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

WAYNFLETE 18, FALMOUTH 10: Sadie Cole scored six goals and Martha Veroneau added five to lead the Flyers (1-0) past the Yachtsmen (1-1) at Falmouth.

Alex Bernier scored three goals and Laura Fay had two for Falmouth.

FREEPORT 8, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 2: Jocelyn Davee scored three times, and Alexandra Mitch and Eli Pier twice each to lead the Falcons (1-1) over Fryeburg Academy (0-1) at Freeport.

Becca Lane also scored for Freeport. Megan Costello and Kendra Fox were the only Raiders to beat Freeport goalie Molly Lane.

BRUNSWICK 13, MT. ARARAT 6: Corrine O’Connor had four goals and Suzannah Smith added three for Brunswick at Topsham.

Lydia Caputi and Dakota Foster added two goals each for the Dragons. Haley Michaud and Callie Kirk scored three apiece for Mt. Ararat.

MORSE 14, GARDINER 12: Lindsay Watts had six goals and Tori Field added five as the Shipbuilders (1-0) topped the Tigers (1-1) at Bath.

Charlotte Smith, Christina Stuart and Shannon Rice also scored, and Crystal Leavitt made seven saves for Morse, which recovered from a 7-2 deficit.

YORK 18, WELLS 17: Mackie Hill had eight goals and Carly Lee added five to lead the Wildcats, who built a seven-goal lead and held on in an opener at York.

Kelly Beisswanger led the Warriors with eight goals.
