Share Our Strength will be the beneficiary of a May 22 dinner featuring the culinary holy trinity of the Portland food scene: Chefs Rob Evans, Sam Hayward and Krista Desjarlais. The dinner will be held at Evans’ restaurant, Hugo’s, 88 Middle St. There’s no word yet on price, but the evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by an auction at 6:30 p.m. and a seasonal spring dinner at 7:30 p.m. Check the Food & Dining section in May for more details.

Mark Leonard has opened a new barbecue restaurant called Big Paw’s BBQ at 605 Alfred St. (Route 111) in Biddeford. According to Leonard, the restaurant serves “authentic slow-smoked bar-b-que fare, with some personal Maine spins.” Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Sunday.

The Sea Glass restaurant at Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth is offering three courses for $30 through the spring, with menus changing each week. The regular dinner menu will still be available, along with the five-course lobster tasting menu.

Petite Jacqueline, a new French bistro from Steve and Michelle Corry in Portland’s Longfellow Square, is looking to add outdoor seating for the summer.

Rabelais, 86 Middle St., Portland, is having a sale from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 14-16. The food-centric bookstore specializes in titles related to food, drink, farming and gardening. Look for $1, $3 and $5 books at the sale, with most of the remaining inventory discounted by 40 percent.
