BANGOR — A Maine woman has become the fourth person sentenced in a marriage scam that enlisted Maine residents to wed immigrants.

Fifth-six-year-old June Roy White of Newport was ordered Thursday to serve three months, the same time her husband is serving.

Two of their daughters also have been sentenced to prison for their roles. Next month, 32-year-old Torri Roy Patterson of Lewiston is scheduled to begin serving a six-month sentence and 37-year-old Angela Roy of Sabbatus will begin serving a 10-month sentence.

Prosecutors say the ringleaders were from Massachusetts. Rashid Kakande, of Woburn, Mass., a native of Uganda, is awaiting sentencing. The Bangor Daily News says the other conspirator, James Mbugua, of Springfield, Mass., is on the lam. He’s a native of Kenya.
