OAKLAND — Education commissioner Stephen Bowen will be in central Maine this week as he continues his “listening tour” to meet with educators, students and parents about the state’s education system.

On Tuesday Bowen is meeting with superintendents in Oakland before visiting Williams Elementary School, where he’ll spend time in the classroom of Shelly Moody, who is Maine’s 2011 teacher of the year.

Bowen later will visit Readfield Elementary School before ending the day with an evening forum at Messalonskee Middle School in Oakland. There, he’ll hear from parents, teachers and others interested in sharing their ideas on how to improve the state’s schools and the Department of Education.
