SACO — A 13-year-old boy on a bicycle and a car collided Monday after the boy failed to check both ways for traffic, according to police.

Police said the boy struck his head on the windshield of a 2001 BMW and suffered internal and facial injuries. The boy, whose name was not released, was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

The accident took place on North Street, near the intersection of Nott, just before 2 p.m. Police said the boy did not yield the right-of-way as he entered North Street and hit the car.

The driver of the car, 65-year-old Kristy Pawlak of Newfield, N.H., was not hurt.

Police are investigating the accident and will determine whether any charges are warranted.
