BANGOR — A 26-year-old Maine woman is facing attempted murder and other charges that she doused an elderly female with an accelerant and set her on fire.
Emily Cole of Ellsworth was arrested Saturday following the Friday afternoon incident.
Police say the victim suffered severe burns on her upper body. She was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor and later transferred to the Maine Medical Center in Portland. On Sunday her condition was listed as serious.
Police have not discussed the motive for the alleged attack or the relationship between Cole and the victim.
The Bangor Daily News says Cole is being held at the Penobscot County jail. She is due to appear before a judge via video conference on Monday.
