OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Vincent Aprano pitched a five-hitter to lead second-seeded Briarcliffe to a 2-0 victory over fourth-seeded Spalding in an elimination game at the USCAA Small College World Series on Tuesday.

Aprano walked one and struck out seven against Spalding (30-13).

Briarcliffe (29-15) scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth inning and added a run on Christopher Ahearn’s sacrifice fly in the fifth.

PENN STATE GREATER ALLEGHENY 7, ROBERT MORRIS-SPRINGFIELD 0: Tim Connelly threw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead No. 5 Penn State Greater Allegheny (30-12-1) past No. 7 Robert Morris-Springfield (25-16-1).

Scott Dierdorf went 2 for 3 with a two-run homer and a walk for Penn State Greater Allegheny, which opened a 5-0 lead after two innings. Mike Visloski knocked in two runs and scored once, and Nathan Raffle scored twice and drove in one run.

Cory Wilson had the only hit for Robert Morris-Springfield.
